Publisher of many fine games, 2K Games, announced a sequel to 2007′s The Darkness today. The sequel is being developed this time by Digital Extremes, who you may know as the guys and gals behind Dark Sector, and is expected out on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in time for Fall 2011.
The Darkness II will, according to the press release, carry on the stylistic and over-the-top violence from the first game and perhaps kick it up a notch with the addition of “quad-wielding gameplay”. The sequel takes place two years after the events in the first game and sees Jackie, now the Don of the Franchetti crime family, in the middle of an unprovoked mob war.
