Pokémon Black/White release date announced

Nintendo announced over the holiday break that the next iteration of everyone’s favorite monster-enslaving RPG will be making its way over to American shores on March 6, 2011.

In case your memory’s a bit fuzzy on what manner of new things Pokémon Black/White will bring to the table, the next “generation” of Pokémon adds a whopping 156 new Pokémon which, if you haven’t been keeping count, is the highest number of new Pokémon introduced in a game in the series’ history.

Also new to Pokémon Black/White will be the addition of seasons that rotate out every four months. As you’d expect, different Pokémon will show up in fields depending on what season and what time of day it is. Beyond the change of seasons bringing about new breeds of Pokémon, there will also be noticeable changes to the environment, such as the leaves turning color in the fall and snow on the ground in winter.

In addition to the mammoth amount of new Pokémon and the addition of seasons, there are also a number of graphics enhancements, new types of battles and many other things to occupy yourself with. Count me in.
