Microsoft Confirms Kinect Pricing, Also Prices Kinect Games

This most likely isn’t going to come as a shock to you if you’ve been keeping up with the Kinect, but Microsoft revealed today that Kinect will come at the price tag of $149.99 (£129.99 for you folks across the pond). Kinect comes with a copy of Kinect Adventures, a cable that plugs directly into the new Xbox 360 S models, as well as a USB and power cord for the older Xbox 360 models.

Microsoft also announced pricing for the Kinect games, and they’ll retail for $49.99, just $10 below the price for a standard Xbox 360 game. For those without an Xbox 360, or just looking for a new Xbox 360, Microsoft also announced a bundle including a new model of the Xbox 360 S with 4GB of internal memory, and the Kinect bundle, for $299.99.

Last but not least, Microsoft also announced a firm number for Kinect’s launch titles, which is a total of 15. That’s quite a lot of titles to launch with, but if we’re going by the quality of the games shown at E3, you have to imagine that the ones they didn’t show at E3 aren’t exactly going to be selling units; to put it bluntly, I think they’ll be pretty awful attempts at snaring the casual crowd. Dance Central looks like it remains as the peripheral’s greatest hope for success with both the casual and core audience, but we’ll just have to wait and see when Kinect launches this November. While you’re here, do you plan on buying the Kinect yourself? Leave a comment!
