Final Fantasy XIII-2 announced (Update)

Update: A post on the PlayStation.Blog suggests that Final Fantasy XIII-2 could be headed to US and EU in winter as well.

Square Enix announced at its 1st Production Division event in Japan early this morning that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a real thing and will be coming to both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this winter in Japan. Unfortunately, no international release window was revealed.

Little to nothing was revealed at the event, only that Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama will be reprising his role as director in Final Fantasy XIII-2. The image also shows off a whole new character (seen left in the header image), but just who that character is was not discussed. A teaser for the game has also popped up on YouTube, which you can find below. It’s a little spoilerific, so shield your eyes if you’ve yet to play FF13.

Like I’ve said on my personal Twitter account, I’m likely to kill myself if there are a combination of dresspheres and Vanille in FFXIII-2. I can’t handle the two of those things at once.
